Many live their lives based on hope; hope that things will be better or something we did today will yield expected results. We set new year resolutions hoping that we will achieve them as we work towards it. Whiles hope is needed, there are things that are certain to happen because of who we are and what we do and being a born again Christian came with such privileges.
When we handed over our lives to Jesus Christ, there are some things He changed about us and privileges He made available to us because we are His, and these are not dependent on how good we live but how much we can believe they are ours and enjoy them.
Unfortunately, sometimes we get too used to the world and familiar with things and systems that ordinarily are below our privileges that we forget who we are and live below standard. Jesus Christ paid a price too high for us to keep living below standard and feel comfortable. Let me remind you of times you misplaced your identity in Christ and chose to live below your privileges;
We get comfortable and fight over few millions whiles the riches of God in glory is available to us. Philippians 4:19
We fight for inheritance that do not last whiles we are joint heirs with Christ Jesus. Romans 8:17
We envy another’s property and steal whiles all things are ours. 1 Corinthians 3:21
We fight for positions and even kill for it to feel relevant whiles we are Ambassadors- God’s trusted Representatives on earth with authority of God to function on earth and the whole Heaven stand in wait for our instruction. 2 Corinthians 5:20
We will do anything to fit in and feel accepted whiles we are gods and children of the most high. A value that cannot be compared to anything the world offers. Psalms 82:6
We will want to use our strength, sweat, and toil to achieve everything whiles grace abounds towards us. Sometimes Grace is all the strength we need. 2 Corinthians 9:8
We look for help in all the wrong places whiles the Holy Spirit our Helper lives in us. John 14:26
We struggle with self esteem, image crisis, and reputation while God created us in His own image, in all His glory, putting His reputation at risk by giving us His name and identity. There’s no value greater than this. Genesis 1:26-28
We weep for lack of money and stay broke whiles God stands by to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. Philippians 4:19
We complain about the problems of the world while we are the light of the world. Matthew 5:14-16
We hunger for love the world cannot provide and some people cannot give whiles the love of God is shared abroad in our hearts as receivers and dispensers of His love. Romans 5:5
We struggle with sin, living right, and make excuses for them while we are the righteousness of God and can just resist the devil and he will flee. 2 Corinthians 5:21, James 4:7
We yearn to feel like kings and queens on earth, being served and appreciated while Angels are ministering Spirits sent to you serve us and stand ready to honor our instructions. Hebrews 1:14
The world cannot count on us for the wisdom it lacks because we lament with them on their issues and are swayed by any deceit while we have the mind of God and can operate in His wisdom. 1 Corinthians 2:16
We look for something extraordinary with our lives and lay in wait for when our light will shine while just as Christ is so are we in the world. 1 John 4:17
We seek protection in all places and yearn for a kind of friendship people cannot give while God promises us that He will never leave nor forsake us and He is with us till the end of the world. He is the friend who stays and a protector nothing or no one can defeat. Hebrews 13:5
We feel lonely and seek someone to talk to and confide in but we can’t trust anyone while God says “Call on Me and I will answer.” Jeremiah 33:3, Psalm 91:15
We live in constant fear of the unknown while God never gave us the spirit of fear but of sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
We make statements that portray us as nobodies and live anyhow while we are Royals seated with Christ in Heavenly places. Ephesians 2:6
We wonder if we can ever win in life and join the crowd in worrying if victory is ever assured in this corrupt world, while we have God’s word that He will lead us in triumphant procession. 2 Corinthians 2:14
We worry about life and the things we will need while God says we shouldn’t be anxious for nothing and ask anything in the name of Jesus and we will have them. Matthew 6:25-34
We complain about the attitude of people, crime, and wonder if the world can ever be better, while Jesus Christ has commissioned us with power and authority to influence lives on earth to become like Him by preaching the Gospel and making disciples of all nations. Matthew 28:18-20
The list is endless and Christians who do not practice these truths are uncountable. The devil is not always to be blamed for our woes, often our ignorance and our choice not to grow as Christians take the greater part of our problems.
In 2020, purpose to live your identity in Christ and enjoy your inheritance in Him. We have lived far too long below the standard and got comfortable. Remember, we are treasures in earthen vessels, 2 Corinthians 4:7.
God is a faithful God who cannot lie and always stand ready to honor His Word, who will believe Him to take Him at His Word?
